Irma Whitecloud is the human mother of Cary Loudermilk and Kerry Loudermilk. Her husband was Ray Whitecloud, who left her after Cary’s birth.

We have no canon explanation for why Cary and Kerry's last name wasn't Whitecloud. To date there are two fan theories:

1. Irma may have remarried, and given Cary and Kerry her new husband’s last name.
2. Either with or without Irma's encouragement, Cary changed his and Kerry's last name to something that "better matched" his apparent race.
